Are you in compliance? 

 

Here are some sample questions from the HR Compliance Audit to give you an idea:

 

  1. Does the business have Worker’s Compensation Insurance in place?
  2. Does the business have all the Department of Labor required notices posted in a conspicuous place at each of the business’ locations?
  3. Does the business have policies in place pertaining to Harassment in the Workplace, Violence in the Workplace, Equal Opportunity, Non-Competition, Non-Disclosure, Non-Solicitation, Company Property, Code of Conduct, Safety in the Workplace, etc.?
  4. Does the business have personnel files?
  5. Are the personnel files under lock & key? 
  6. Are the filed properly?
  7. Does the business have I9 completed and filed in accordance with guidelines on all current & past employees?
  8. Are all positions classified in accordance with the Federal Labor Standards Act as exempt or nonexempt and all overtime calculated & paid to all nonexempt employees in accordance with those same guidelines?
  9. Does the business maintain all information, documents, resumes and applications from individuals inquiring about employment opportunities in accordance with all applicable guidelines?
  10. Does the business have a written safety program in place that has been properly disseminated to all employees and is periodic refresher training provided?

 

How effective are your HR practices?  

 

 

Here are some sample questions from the HR Effectiveness Audit to give you an idea:

  1. Does the business have liability insurance?
  2. Does the business have workers compensation insurance in place?
  3. Does the business offer health insurance to its employees?
  4. Does the business have an employee handbook?
  5. Have job descriptions been created for all positions?
  6. How has the business determined what and how to pay its employees?
  7. Are all jobs properly classified as exempt or nonexempt in accordance with applicable laws?
  8. Does the business have a performance management system in place?
  9. How does the business attract, screen, interview, hire and onboard employees?
  10. Is payroll conducted internally or through an external resource?
  11. Has the business identified the key positions within the company, identified likely replacements for the current position holders and put a plan in place to train the replacements so as to insure smooth transition and minimize business disruption?

These evaluations are minimally invasive.

Rather than combing through and studying files like an accounting audit, these evaluations are just a face to face conversation.

 

The evaluation can even take place off site.
